ExploringVisiting Mighty Rivers Eco-Farm
It's our pleasure to introduce you to our farm and NEARBY TROPICAL WONDERS. Our farm overflows with tropical greenery that is habitat to hundreds of bird species, howler monkeys, colorful reptiles, sloths, and snakes. We are almost surrounded by mountain rivers. We think you'll love the mist and magic of the powerful Rio Destierro (Deserted River) as it thunders from nearby mountains and waterfalls. You can relax by a large natural pool and sandy beach along the tranquil Rio Perla (Pearl River). You'll be mesmerized by the soothing drone of the two rivers as they merge, then tumble infinitely, effervescently towards the Caribbean Sea. If you're thirsty, you can fill up your canteen at the bamboo bush, where a natural spring pumps clear, fresh water out of the ground at the rate of over a hundred gallons a minute.
As you enter Mighty Rivers Eco-farm, don't expect to walk into an elaborate reception area...yet. We are building on the foundation of sustainable agriculture in the tropics, while sharing the treasures of nature with each other and visitors. You will notice that our emphasis is on finding practical ways to extract a livelihood in the jungle without sacrificing kindness to animals, soil, and plants. We accomodate those who wish to spend time at our farm and we have just begun to provide TOURS and LODGING for a moderate fee. If you can't visit us but are interested in our products, please contact us or see OUR PRODUCTS page. Mighty Rivers Eco-Farm JUNGLE LESSONS Exploring the Caribbean region of Costa Rica ....an unsung tropical wonderland Our beaches have not been cleared of trees and are rarely uncomfortably crowded. You will have the opportunity to smell and feel jungle beaches in a completely natural setting with shoreline trails that offer a close up view of many jungle creatures. You can surf, snorkle, kayak, white water raft, hike, fish or just plain use imagination and do what feels right. In order to say you've been to Costa Rica, we think any tour should include visits to local waterfalls, volcanos, white and black sand beaches, canoe rides, whitewater rivers, plenty of jungle tours, and exposure to the local culture and cuisine. For some variation in culture and climate, you might consider several popular attractions in Costa Rica's central, or higher elevation region such as Volcan Poaz, Lake Arenal, or the Monte Verde Cloud Forest Preserve, a premier eco-tourist destination. The development of Monte Verde by the Quakers in the 1950s is an incredible tale by itself, and its impact on the rest of the country is significant. We might offer tours to the Pacific side too but Jungle Jake says it's highly modernized and too expensive over on yonder Pacific side, and the original culture and nature has been lost in the process, so we prefer to stay Caribbean. It's our goal to provide affordable, wholesome tours to the areas of Costa Rica that set it apart from any other tourist spot in the world. We would also like to introduce you to our Caribbean neighbors here on the "rich coast" who are helping us make our region accessible and enjoyable. |
